It has been too long!!!!

It has been too long since I last posted. I know I know I know...I need to do better. It has been almost 5 months since I put my last set of locks in. I am loving this journey.The shaft of my locs a sealing quite nicely, however I do still have a toon a loose ends. Less than 10 of my locs have sealed but I see progress. I will attach some pix from my journy.

Hey Ya'll!!!I have not done to many updates lately so I wanted to let you all know whats going on. Of course my hair is not locked yet but I can feel the progress. I can feel my locs knotting and about 5 of them are budding. I am really enjoying my hair and I can't wait to see more changes. Well thats all I have for now. When my buds start to become more noticeable I will post pix.

I got hooked up!!!

So I went to Zayd's Naturally Natural hair salon today and got my locs washed and palm rolled. It felt so good to get my hair washed. The last time I had my hair professionally done was in like 2004 when I had a perm. I am happy with how Malaika hooked my locs up. The service was excellent and the conversation very rich. I forgot about beauty/barber shop talk. Needless to say I will continue to go to Malaika until my locs and I get on one accord...lol I am a DYIer by heart but she has my hair looking so good. Check it out.

I got into grad school!!!

SO I just started my first class in grad school and I will be teaching in the fall. As a result I decided to two strand twist my micro-braidlocs. I am going to switch to the palm-rolling method. Since I am a DYIer by nature I believe that time wise this will be better foe me. Take a look.

First Re-ti

Here are pix of my first full re-ti. It took about 6 hours. I had my cousin do it this time but I think I will do it next time. I need to get used to doing my whole head myself.



I cant wait to see how my hair changes over the years.

Let’s talk Shrinkage

So I really had no idea what shrinkage was until I took a pic of my hair and compared it to pix of my hair after installing the braidlocs. OMG!!! Wow.. Know I know. Take a look.



The first pic is of my everyday freestyle and the following are after a wish and braidout!!! The first time I did not see anything so special about wearing my hair in that style. Now after coming in to the knowledge of shrinkage I love it. I love the fact that it looks so tamed and it does not really even look like braids. At first examination one might think that it is even loose nape. Which is a good style for me to wear at this time because I am seeking career employment. I am currently employed however, this is not a job I would call a career. I don’t want to put on a wig when interviewing with prospective employers but at the same time I don’t want my hair to turn them off either. This style will be a happy medium for me. If my clean, and tamed natural hair turns you off then I don’t want to work for you anyway. Blogger world please keep me in your prayers in the case of employment as the window on the 2009-2010 school year is growing smaller with each passing day. I know that what God has for me is for me and that He is an on time God but your prayers would be greatly appreciated.

So in styling my hair I can already tell that I am going to have to do a re-ti very soon. Not gonna be able to wait 4 weeks. But its cool. I did a braid out. Its ok but it kinda looks like my natural free style so I think i may leave the braid out look alone. What do you think?
