In A Pinch With My Tiny Baby Sisterlocks

On Sunday I set my hair On those tiny blue perm rods so Monday & Tuesday I had a nice little bump in my curls this morning however, I woke up to flat hair, and since my hair is sooo short it looked a little crazy. So I clipped a flower to a hat and popped it on. I think it will work for the day.

I Am Sisterlocked!

On Friday evening at 7:30 my first baby lock was born and in Sunday July 20, 2014 the last one emerged! I am so excited to be on this journey. I will post some pix below.
The very front SLs are micro because my hair is so short and fine.
As you can see from the side I have a tapered cut so my locks stop about an inch above my ear.

It's really hard to tell here because my hair is so curly but there is about 2 inches of unlocked hair at the bottom.
The locks in the back are small-medium.

I'm happy with the results and I love that my hair is not too fine it has a some what full look considering the fact that they are only 1 day old!

I don't know how many locks I have yet because I have not counted. In 4 weeks I'll go back for my retightening and my shorter hairs will be locked at that time. My short hairs are about 1 1/3 inch long so over the next 4 weeks my hair should grow about 1/2 an inch and it should be long enough to get locked at that time.

If you were wondering why did I have my Sisterlocks installed if all my hair was not long enough. Well that's simple! I'm a teacher and school is about to start back very soon and I did not schedule my full installation around the beginning of the school year. The amount of time it takes to do a install was too much of a commitment during the time a back to school, classroom setup, professional development, open house and parent teacher conferences. I feel like I can safely block off 6-8 hours for a retightening and partial installation but not 20-30 hours for a full install. I'll be checking in again in about 2 weeks or so when I do my first wash. Thanks for checking out my blog!

I'm finally getting Sisterlocks!

So I have been wanting sisterlocks for years but I never felt like I could afford the installation! So I installed interlocks and traditional locks myself and while I enjoyed them I picked them out and changed my hair up a lot even to the point of relaxing it.
I grew my relaxer out for 10 months and recently cut the relaxed ends (a good 12 inches) and I'm now rocking a cute tapered twa. Well it's very cute and I love the ease in styling but I don't love the product build up I get after only 2 days. It's easy to wash but I just hate the sticky finger feeling and the flacks.
My husband was supportive of the hair cut. He likes my curls but prefers long hair. I was not really trying to hear him about growing my hair out again until I saw a Sisterlocks YouTube video. Seeing the vid made me think about the cons of loose hair, be it relaxed, a twa, or long and natural. I have had it all and I always had a complaint about each style. Relaxed is too flat, limp and lifeless. Long and natural= a wash day routine upwards of 5 hours every single week. And although my twa is cute it is a twa and I have to use weave if I want a long style.
My sister does not think I should get them because I change my hair so much but I think that's exactly why I need them. And I'm of the mind set that you will always want something until you have it/ try it. So be looking out for my next update within the next week or so. I have already had my test locks installed and I will be getting the full installation on this coming Friday if The Lord says the same!
Thanks for reading my blog!
